The Arena mode was announced before E3 and features four maps to go with it. It’s essentially a high score mode which pits the player against an onslaught of bots which become progressively more difficult to dispatch – the game ending once you die. The four new maps included with the update are High-rise Lobby, The Office, Turbine, and U4 Processing Station.

Fans of the game waiting for a multiplayer mode needn’t worry that this Arena mode is here to replace online play. The game’s lead designer Shawn Ketcherside says “Arena Mode is NOT a replacement for Multiplayer. We’re still hard at work on that, and it’s still slated for a future release.“

The new mode should be downloaded the next time you load up Steam.
