Nintendo has announced that “a totally new side-scrolling action Super Mario in 2D” game will be released for the 3DS in the year beginning April 2012. The news came from Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata during an earnings call last night.
No further details on the new side-scrolling Mario game for 3DS were given. Iwata also revealed that Nintendo expects to stop losing money on every 3DS sold at some point in the upcoming fiscal year, starting April 1.
The 3DS received its first Super Mario title, Super Mario 3D Land, late in 2011.
