Watch out Blizzard, NCsoft has today announced its intent to become the “world’s premier western publisher of MMOs” following the formation of NC West.
Yesterday reports revealed that jobs at the European office of the Lineage, Guild Wars, and City of Heroes publisher were set to be cut and an unannounced Brighton-developed MMO had been canned.
However, the company has since moved to reassure fans of troubled sci-fi MMO Tabula Rasa that the game is safe.
Today’s announcement confirmed NCsoft’s existing subsidiaries NC Interactive, NC Europe, NC Austin, and ArenaNet will be led as a unified organisation under NC West with a “dedicated focus towards becoming the world’s premier western publisher of MMOs”. NC West’s headquarters is planned to be established in Seattle, WA by the end of 2008.
Blizzard, we’re sure, is watching events closely.
