Following news that SEGA’s Virtua Tennis 3 for Xbox 360 would ship with native 1080p support, EA has taken its place at the 1080p table. The publisher has announced that the imminent NBA Street Homecourt will be the first released Xbox 360 game to feature native 1080p visuals.

This means that anyone with a 1080p display and the correct cables to hook it all up will be able to take part in some 3-on-3 basketball in the maximum resolution the Xbox 360 is capable of displaying.

There will be one drawback when using the higher resolution though. According to Gamasutra 1080p will force the game to run at 30 frames per second, whereas 720p will render the game at a silky smooth 60fps.

NBA Street Homecourt is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 across Europe on March 23.
