NASA-sponsored MMO Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond is scheduled to launch its beta late next year.
The MMO, aimed at the 5 to 24 market, recreates the solar system and focuses on space exploration, career advancement, and education.
Additionally, Astronaut will support expansions to other platforms, and will initially support iOS and PC.
The beta test for the Astronaut MMO is set for December 25, while the Astronaut Academy handbook which gives an overview of the science and technology within the game will be released for iOS.
NASA has previously worked on games-oriented projects such as Second Life’s “MOONWORLD”.
