Square Enix has announced the Q1 2009 Europe and PAL territories release of My Pet Shop, an exclusive Nintendo DS title developed by Taito for the pre-teen market.

In My Pet Shop players will set off on an adventure as they work to help run the best pet shop that Green Town has ever seen. The game will feature over 40 different animals which players will be able to find and care for. These include dogs, pigs, pandas and bears.

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. commented: “My Pet Shop is our first game to be launched solely at a younger gaming audience. There is a huge appetite for good quality games that younger gamers can relate to. With its engaging storyline and enjoyable gameplay elements, we’re optimistic My Pet Shop will be well received over here.”

Square Enix notes “the game is beautifully crafted by some of the biggest names in Japanese development”.
