As if the prior excitement of Sledgehammer Games taking Modern Warfare 3 wasn’t enough, the CoD community has once again expressed its frustration and dissatisfaction towards Infinity Ward after the video game developer took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to post a Thanksgiving tweet.

The tweet which reads, “When you’re already full from Thanksgiving dinner but they bring out the pie” is followed by a photo of one of the franchise’s most disliked characters General Shepherd with the quote, “I do what needs to be done.”

CoD community rips Infinity Ward apart

Although the post is seemingly meant to be funny, the CoD fans on X were having none of it as many fans unleashed their dislike on Infinity Ward. One X user with the name Sparkz commented, “You shut up go disappear and don’t come back till you know how to make a GOOD COD again.”

Another fan wrote that, “No one’s excited for your next game.” While one user comments that they, “Feel bad for whoever is running the IW social media account, bro probably wants to tweet out something funny, instead it’s a civil war.”

One user Drippin_Heat01 wrote, “I hope everyone remembers how poorly IW treated its entire community for an entire year when their next title comes out. I don’t care how great their next game may look or sound, I will never buy or trust an IW title ever again.”

Why the hate towards Infinity Ward?

There are many reasons why the CoD community is expressing its frustration towards Infinity Ward but the most common is most likely the decline in quality of their games since the release of Modern Warfare 3 in 2011.  Infinity Ward has been criticized for producing games that are less innovative and engaging than their earlier titles.

Many fans believe that the series has become too focused on monetization and multiplayer mechanics, at the expense of single-player campaigns and overall gameplay quality.

Another reason could be the lack of communication and responsiveness from Infinity Ward. Fans have criticized the developer for not being transparent enough about their development process and for not addressing community feedback in a timely or effective manner. This has led to a feeling of disconnect between the developer and the players, which has fueled frustration and resentment among the community.

It’s unclear whether Infinity Ward will be taking charge of the development of any future Call of Duty games but with so much hate and dissatisfaction being directed towards the developer, Activision might listen to the community and keep Infinity Ward in the shadows for now.
