A Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Special Edition, featuring DLC characters and a host of other bonus items, has been spotted on the EBGames website.

A steelbook case featuring exclusive artwork houses a copy of the game; a comic/art-book featuring a 12-page prologue comic, plus campaign art and a selection of fan art; a one month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics and two playable DLC characters, Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine.

The two DLC characters will be available to download 30 days after the game’s launch. It’s not known the characters will be made available for all MvC3 players at a later date.

The EBGames listing also states a February 15, 2011 release date, though this is unconfirmed by Capcom.

News of the special edition follows the overnight reveal that Capcom’s Zero and Marvel’s She-Hulk are joining the MvC3 roster.

Capcom’s decision to offer additional MvC3 characters as DLC is a decision which will please and anger fans in equal measure.

On one hand players will be happy to see the roster expanding, but on the other there’s the question as to why the characters aren’t being included on the game disc from day one.

There’s also the issue of balancing, a reason given by Capcom for the lack of DLC characters in Street Fighter IV.
