Speaking on the latest Major Nelson podcast, Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer congratulated both Epic Games and Lionhead on the success of Gears of War 2 and Fable II.
Last month Microsoft announced that Fable II had sold 1.5 million units worldwide, making it the fastest-selling RPG on the Xbox 360. While official launch figures for Gears of War 2 stood at two million units, Spencer revealed to Major Nelson that the game is now “pushing three [million]”.
The first Gears of War title took ten weeks to reach sales of three million units, and currently stands at over five million units worldwide.
