First announced half a decade ago, Alan Wake has been on the most wanted list of many a PC gamer for years. However, late last week Microsoft put the final nail in the coffin of the PC version, confirming the game’s release as an Xbox 360 exclusive.
“Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen,” read a Microsoft statement. “We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive.”
The statement continued: “Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.”
With the PC version having slowly slipped from all press material, this doesn’t come as a great surprise.
Alan Wake is scheduled for release on May 21, only for Xbox 360. Look out for an extensive preview later this week.
