Evolution Studios has released an update for Motorstorm Apocalypse, which it calls “After Party”. The upgrade introduces several important fixes in addition to a new track and Special Events.

First and foremost, the upgrade improves the quality of online play, connectivity between races and the integrity of leaderboards. A post on the Motorstorm Apocalypse forums elaborates on these improvements:

“Any incorrectly posted times discovered will be systematically removed from the leaderboards after the update,” Evolution Studios’ community man Phenom explained.

“It also paves the way for player profiles to be added to motorstorm.com and for variability in the matchmaking playlists. A new playlist will be made available following the update to introduce limited vehicle selections every other race.”

Vehicles have also been retuned to improve balancing.

In terms of content, After Party welcomes a new map called The Rock, featuring night and day races in off-road terrain, and a series of additional Special Events which will be available to download from PSN in the coming weeks.

I reviewed the game back in March, describing it as a “relentless assault on the senses”. I gave it an 8 out 10 to reflect this excitable appraisal.

The free update is available now.
