According to an article in US magazine Game Informer, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will feature all the characters from the entire Mortal Kombat series, meaning at least 60 playable characters will be present. In-fact, the number of combatants is so large that the character select screen will need to be rotated in order to view them all.

There will also be a create-your-own-fighter mode, and some significant overhauls to the gameplay, including the Fatality system which is said to have been completely reinvented. A new Air Combo system has been added allowing you to string together moves whilst in the air, and the throwing system has also been tweaked and will now allow you to direct where an enemy is thrown. Although a return to the one-on-one roots of the series, the game will also feature a Konquest mode that makes use of the Shaolin Monks engine.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon was scheduled for an October release on PlayStation 2 and Xbox in North America, with a European release soon after. Now, in 2023, we’re gearing up for a Mortal Kombat 1 release date which looks soon to kick off.
