Posting on his Twitter account, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has been teasing out nuggets of info regarding the next instalment in the popular Mortal Kombat franchise. Superheroes are gone, M-rated fatalities are in.

“Motion capturing special moves & fatalities today….they are kind of sick !!” posted Boon.

He added: “People want an M-rated MK….dammit we will give them an M-rated MK.”

Most recently Boon posted: “I think players are definitely going to get the “warm & fuzzies” when they see, hear, play & “discover” the next MK.”

It’s good to hear that despite the uncertain future of Midway Games, the Mortal Kombat development team is pushing on with the new game. MK vs DC Universe was certainly a return to form for the franchise, so we’re expecting MK9 to be pretty tasty.
