According to data released by Famitsu publisher Enterbrain (translated by Kotaku), sales for Nintendo’s Wii surpassed eight million units as of April 19, 2009. The Wii launched in Japan on December 2, 2006.

Enterbrain also released details of the top five best-selling Wii titles in Japan:

Wii Sport: 3,481,469 units

Wii Fit: 3,301,371 units

Wii Play: 2,672,811 units

Mario Kart Wii: 2,218,756 units

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 1,789,924 units

While Wii Sports (not sold with the console in Japan) and Wii Play were launch titles in Japan, Wii Fit has almost eclipsed sales of the sports collection despite launching a year later.
