A new Alan Wake game is coming, but it won’t be Alan Wake 2, developer Remedy has confirmed to Eurogamer.

“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” Remedy’s head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen explained.

“The rest we’re saving for our official announcement when we’ll actually show you.”

Hakkinen added: “It’s something that’ll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this instalment will also give an opportunity for players who aren’t familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board.”

“We can’t wait to show you more, bear with us.”

Hakkinen also confirmed that a “slice” of the Remedy team has been working on the new game for “months”.

Exactly when we’ll get the full reveal isn’t known, but with E3 just weeks away there seems no better place to show off a new Alan Wake.

But how new will the game actually be? If we’re not talking Alan Wake 2 then is the title a reworked version of the writer’s first outing, perhaps with added support for Kinect? We’d rather a new story, but Hakkinen’s comments suggest otherwise.
