The legal tussle between Minecraft studio Mojang and The Elder Scrolls publisher Bethesda has been won by the independent studio, and has been granted permission to keep using the name “Scrolls” for its upcoming title.

“We won the interim injunction!” Tweeted Mojang co-founder Markus Persson. “We can keep using the name ‘Scrolls’. ZeniMax/Bethesda can still appeal the ruling, but I’m very happy. :D”

He joked: “No matter how this plays out, we should still do the quake game. :D”

Fellow Mojang co-founder Jakob Porser also Tweeted his elation with the ruling: “Im very happy that the courts saw it our way and that Scrolls will get to keep its name. Hurray!”

Back in August, Persson used Twitter to reveal Bethesda’s decision to take Mojang to court, stating: “They claim ‘Scrolls’ infringes on their trademark and everyone will confuse it with Skyrim.”
