Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available to players who purchase the Legacy, Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe Editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and will not be available to purchase separately, Activision has confirmed.

New details about the upcoming remaster were revealed in an FAQ posted this evening following its announcement earlier today, where Activision confirmed that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is only available through the Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.”

“Can I play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without buying Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare?” asks another question. “No, you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.”

The remaster won’t be available on disc, either, instead coming as a digital download bundled with the various special editions. The game will only be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Player stats from the original Modern Warfare won’t carry over to Modern Warfare Remastered, either, Activision says, although the game will still have a “full, standalone multiplayer progression system, with the ability to unlock weapons, perks, weapon attachments, and reach Master Prestige”. It will also run on dedicated servers, Activision says.

Modern Warfare Remastered is a fully-remastered version of 2007’s Call of Duty 4, featuring the game’s full campaign plus 10 multiplayer maps. The game is being developed by Raven and executive produced by Infinity Ward.
