Activision recently announced their intention to provide more news on the upcoming Call of Duty 2023 entry (reportedly entitled Modern Warfare 3) through a post made on the FPS series’ official Twitter account. According to the short statement made, the publisher along with developer Sledgehammer Games will be sharing their “artistic abilities and even more next week,” which means we may finally be able to get a glimpse of the next game’s key art.
Of course, with the Modern Warfare 3 release date still yet to be confirmed by Activision, it may not be a while until we see actual gameplay of the next series entry. But with the predicted end of year launch window fast approaching, we may not have to wait too long to feast on more information regarding the features included with the already divisive follow-up project.
Now, in addition to letting the fan base know about their plan to share more information on Call of Duty 2023, Activision’s mini announcement also included a witty image that poked fun at the alleged cover art leaks that had occurred in weeks prior. The upper portion of the graphic in question simply contained the words “Modern Warfare redacted?” while the lower half had the “Call of Duty” series name emblazoned on it. An MS Paint-drawn stick figure operator then decorated the background, fully equipped with a ten-gallon hat and a not-so-deadly pistol.
Most players commenting on the thread predictably enjoyed Activision and Sledgehammer Games’ attempt at providing the “real key art.” But witty jokes aside, the excitement surrounding the next series installment is steadily starting to become more palpable as we approach the last few months before the upcoming game’s eventual release.
