Torn Banner Studios is offering a free copy of Mirage: Arcane Warfare to all interested folks from 6PM BST. The game will be available for 24 hours from the moment the deal goes live. This promotion will also see a permanent price drop for the game from £22.99 to a much more reasonable £7.99.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare is the spiritual (and magical) successor to the Chivalry: Medieval Warfare series of games. Alongside this promotion, there’ll also be the opportunity to purchase the Special Edition upgrade for £6.99, which will also bundle Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and some in-game items and DLC. Which is all rather lovely, if this is your kinda thing.

The game’s getting a price drop and a big promotional push as a response to its lacklustre performance and low multiplayer counts. Torn Banner Studios has been surprisingly upfront and honest about the game’s plight, saying that, ‘Mirage launch sales were poor. That sucked, and we know it.’ The developer goes on to say that it’s doing all it can to improve the experience for players, stating: ‘we’ve added new maps, new character abilities, new features like bots, more class customisation options – and we have set various patches live to continue to improve performance and player experience.’

The free version of the game will go live from 6PM BST and players can add it to their Steam library and download at a later date, if they wish. Mirage: Arcane Warfare was released to a mixed critical reception, with the game receiving most of its negative criticism due to a ‘steep learning curve’.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare is out now on PC.
