The first official books supporting hit sandbox game Minecraft will be released October 10 by specialist children’s publisher Egmont.

Coming on October 10 are The Minecraft Beginner’s Handbook and The Minecraft Annual. These will be followed in December by The Redstone Handbook.

The Minecraft Beginner’s Handbook: Everything you need to know to make it through your first few days alive … The stylish hardback book will teach you how to find food and shelter before darkness falls and the monsters come looking for you. It’s crammed full of tips on how to make a shelter, find and gather essential resources and craft armour and weapons. The book also includes exclusive tips from Minecraft creator Markus Persson, lead game developer Jens Bergensten and first-hand accounts from well-known Minecraft gamers and experts.

The Minecraft Annual 2014: Packed full of step-by-step instructions for exciting builds and projects, tips from the experts, including lead game developer Jeb, cool things to make, games to test your brain power and codes to unravel.

The Minecraft Redstone Handbook: Redstone experts guide you through all aspects of working with redstone including mining for redstone ore, using repeaters and power sources and creating a variety of useful circuits that will help you create doors, lighting systems and traps. If you’re finding it hard to master redstone, this is the book for you.

“It’s exciting to know our community will have some incredible books to take their adventures with Minecraft outside of the digital realm,” commented Mojang director of fun Lydia Winters. “We’re proud that we can give children a renewed sense of passion about reading through their love of our game.”

All books are priced £7.99.
