Speaking to TheStreet.com, David Zucker, Midway’s CEO, spoke about the company’s support for next generation consoles. Midway don’t plan to release any games for the Xbox 360 launch, but do plan to launch some games for the PlayStation 3 at its launch. While some people may see this as a sign of their favoured platform, it doesn’t appear to be anything more than a time issue, with the Xbox 360 due in a few months and the PlayStation 3 not due until at least a year from now.

To really maximise, to get the performance out of some of the games, it’s going to take some time to do that. And we want to make sure we’re launching high-quality titles,” said Zucker. Midway announced that they will be using Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 for a lot of their next generation development, an engine that has been proved to work wonderfully with both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Epic showed off the fabulous looking Gears of War for the Xbox 360 at E3, and a stunning demo of the Unreal Engine 3 was shown during Sony’s pre-E3 conference.
