Midway has confirmed that Blacksite, its sci-fi FPS, will now ship in Q1 2008 for the PS3, with the Xbox 360 and PC releases still on course for 2007. Blacksite joins the already delayed Stranglehold on PS3 and Epic Games’ own Unreal Tournament 3 – now expected in Q1 2008. Midway has stated that the Blacksite delay only applies to the PAL version of the game that’s due for release across Europe and Australia.

In a conference call following Midway’s announcement, CEO David Zucker cited problems in getting the Unreal Engine 3 up and running on the PS3 as the reason for the delays. Such problems are now said to be a thing of the past and should result in future Midway titles shipping day and date with the Xbox 360 versions.

Zucker also noted that both Blacksite and Stranglehold will ship before Epic Games’ Unreal Tournament 3.
