Xbox One owners affected by faulty hardware will be offered a free digital copy of Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome as compensation, Microsoft has said.

In a statement provided to Polygon, Microsoft said that, “While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios.”

The digital download will offer those afflicted with a faulty disc drive something to play until their replacement console arrives.

Microsoft acknowledged the hardware fault yesterday, but claimed that only a “very small number” of customers had received faulty units.

“The issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers,” the firm said. “We’re working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers.”

Microsoft also said that it was listening to consumer feedback over the console’s new UI.
