In an announcement yesterday, it has been revealed that Microsoft has sold its Salt Lake City development studio to Take-Two Interactive, effectively ending sports game development at Microsoft Game Studios.

The sale happened back in August 2004, but was only made public during Take-Two’s earning call, made yesterday. The studio was responsible for titles such as Links 2004, NFL Fever, NHL Rivals, and Inside Drive.

There are currently no details on what Take-Two’s new acquisition will be working on, but it seems a safe bet that some sports titles will be in the works. We will bring you more news as it becomes available.
