Microsoft EMEA VP Chris Lewis has revealed to UK video games website Kikizo that the company is already working on a successor the Xbox 360. Given the huge amount of time and money involved in creating a new console, the news doesn’t exactly come as a huge surprise, and just because Microsoft it working on a new console, don’t think it will be out any time soon.
“You can’t sit back on your laurels in this business – the consumer won’t let you, the developers certainly won’t let us. So that’s happening right now,” said Lewis. “You’ll see more over time – certainly we’re not talking about the next version yet.“
We’d be absolutely amazed to hear anything about a new Xbox console in the next three years. The news is sure to ignite much Microsoft bashing on internet gaming forums, but planning a console is a long way away from releasing a new system.
