Atlus may have accidentally leaked the Metaphor ReFantazio demo start date early. There are actually several leaks seemingly corroborating the existence of a ‘prologue trial’ – a tweet posted earlier (and then deleted) by the official Atlus Korea X/Twitter account, and an advert on Amazon suggesting a demo is en-route.

Atlus has a media briefing scheduled later today at the Tokyo Game Show. One of the featured titles is a gacha spin-off of Persona 5, while the other presentation is all about Metaphor ReFantazio.

The Atlus Korea account posted a tweet several hours ago, though it has since been deleted. There are several screenshots of the tweet:

The Atlus account also replied to its tweet, and informed audiences of the start dates for the Metaphor ReFantazio demo:

PlatformDateTime
XboxSeptember 25th15:00
PlayStationSeptember 25th16:00
SteamSeptember 26th1:00

Since the tweet was targeting a Korean audience, we will make the assumption the times are referenced by Korean Standard Time, which is BST+8, PDT+16, and EDT+13.

It also appears as though some people have noticed adverts on Amazon showcasing that there’s a demo for Metaphor coming out. However, these are a little harder verify, and they give little information other than the fact you can ‘play the demo.’

It is also reported by Wario64 that the Metaphor ReFantazio demo is already visible on the Xbox storefront in Korea and Hong Kong. They report that it is 60GB.

Demos are pretty rare these days. There’s a recurring theme that developers and publishers are afraid to let players test out their games before buying, though apparently not with Metaphor ReFantazio. I played the first hour at Gamescom this year and thought it was – by far – the best game I played there. If the demo is as good as my first few hours in the game, then Atlus should fear no critique on the prologue trial.

There is even talk that the trial will allow you to transfer your save data over to the full version, which is nothing but good news.
