A trio of announcements today have made public more details about the contents of Rock Band. Perhaps the most significant is confirmation of the fact that entire albums will be released as downloadable content to be used as levels in the game. The first to be made available is the legendry Who album, Who’s Next, a work of epic proportion by one of the biggest names in English music, which will be followed by new content every week.

The second announcement will be of interest to fans of heavier music, as it publicises the fact that Metallica have made a number of their hits available as downloadable tracks for the game. Additionally, their enormous thrash hit Enter Sandman will be included on the game’s disc at release.

The final piece of information from MTV Games and Harmonix announces Steven Van Zandt, known to most as Little Steven, as head advisor on selecting the game’s track listing. Despite his moniker, he is a huge figure in popular music from recent history, pulling various bands together over the years, and staring in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.
