According to a post on NeoGAF, Metal Gear Survive will require an internet connection for both its single-player and multiplayer modes. It’s currently unclear from the wording whether the game will be able to progress when played offline.
When you navigate to the game’s product page there is a disclaimer that states that a ‘PlayStation Plus subscription required for online-multiplay,’ and this is followed by another line which says that ‘an internet connection is required to play the game.’ Quite rightly, this raises questions and causes confusion about whether the game is actually playable at all offline.
Konami’s upcoming inter-dimensional take on the Metal Gear universe was originally announced as an online co-op multiplayer title, and it had previously been confirmed that the entire campaign could also be played solo. Konami has said that resources collected in the co-op multiplayer mode would cross over to the single-player portion of Survive, and now the question is does it need to be online to ensure that resources are always matching or can this be done in an asynchronous manner?
