Konami has confirmed that the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will include a majority of the Easter eggs found in the original game. Speaking to the brilliant Famitsu, Mr. Yuji Korekado, the game’s creative producer, revealed that ‘most’ of the gimmicks will be available for players to experience.
However, this suggests that not all of the original game’s hidden content will be featured in the new remake. But what content could be scrapped?
Metal Gear Solid Delta revives Easter Eggs
In the interview, Korekado confirmed that some of the game’s most obscure Easter Eggs will return in Metal Gear Solid Delta. Additionally, some will be harder to find than in the original.
“We plan to include most of the gimmicks and Easter eggs from the original version, as well as items such as Weekly Famitsu and Calorie Mate,” he told the outlet (translated via Google Translate). “In addition to Kerotan, Garko has been placed throughout the map. Garko is camouflaged to match the environment, making it a little harder to find. Kerotan is placed in the same place as in the original version, but we hope you will search for Garko with a new mindset. Look forward to the reward when you find them all.”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t confirmed which Easter Eggs are cut from Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. However, if we were to hazard a guess on the side of speculation, we’d assume the Ape Escape Easter Egg won’t make the cut.
A stunning remake nonetheless
Elsewhere, Konami confirmed that difficulty levels will change depending on what presentation style you choose to play. In New Style, which is third person, much like MGSV, enemy behavior is different and it’s more difficult. In Legacy Style, which is ‘top-down’ and locked camera like the original, enemy behavior is more simplistic and akin to the 2004 game.
“The game is actually already playable to the end, and we don’t expect it to take many years to complete”
producer Noriaki Okamura.
There are also a number of other MGSV mechanics that have been imported into Delta, from enemy ‘vision’ markers to more detailed interrogation techniques when soldiers are captured. The damage system has also been reworked, with Snake showing visible cuts and bruises, as well as rips and tears to his clothes.
Konami has come under increasing pressure to reveal a release date, but sadly there’s still no news. “That’s a pretty difficult question (laughs), but the game is actually already playable to the end, and we don’t expect it to take many years to complete,” said producer Noriaki Okamura.
