Memories of Mars, the sandbox-scented survival romp from developer Limbic Entertainment, will roll out on Steam via Early Access on June 5.

The game will launch at £23.99, though publisher 505 Games is offering up a 10% discount for early adopters.

While the whole survive-till-you-die thing is nothing new, Memories of Mars attempts to give the genre a kick up the backside with the introduction of seasons, which aim to 'enhance the competition of surviving the Red Planet.'

This mechanic aims to keep things fresh and challenging for even the most skilled players, with periodic catastrophic solar flares rocking up to lay waste to anything in their path — and that includes you. However, some of your skills and talents can be backed up and carried over by clones, allowing you to download 'memories' on how to get a head start for the next season.

You won't be surviving alone, however. Memories of Mars allows you to buddy up with other players to hoover up crucial resources and build up defenses, though you can go solo and fight against everyone if you want to be a complete git.

To be fair, the latter option sounds like a lot more fun to us. Check out Memories of Mars in action in the trailer below.
