In Other Waters, a narrative exploration game about charting an alien ocean, is out now for PC and Switch.

Offering a “non-violent sci-fi story” from developer Jump Over The Age, the game follows a stranded xenobiologist exploring a mysterious ocean. Taking on the role of their AI guide, the player takes the character through these uncharted waters, cataloguing new species through observation, scanning, taking samples, and interacting with alien life. Together, they classify and construct the image of an alien ecosystem, and learn from each other’s experiences.

As they discover more and more about this world, equipment upgrades will become available and let the duo enter new environments under the sea. “Through limited communication, learn more about the person whose suit you inhabit, and help guide her towards a terrible truth,” reads the game’s description. “What you experience together will bring you closer.”
