MechWarrior Online is being developed on Crytek’s CryEngine 3.
Writing on the upcoming MMO’s official MechWarrior website, Piranha Bytes president Russ Bullock explained he believes the technology will allow for “a truly unique AAA experience”.
This is set to be the first sizeable entry in the MechWarrior series since its last major release ten years ago. Users will be able to join or create a Mercenary Corp, join up in factions, and fight to control planets in the Inner Sphere.
The free-to-play MMO will be coming to PC in the second half of 2012.
