It appears that Hollywood has finally caught on that videogames are full of great characters and worlds perfect for movies. In recent weeks we have seen the announcement of movies based on Halo, Hitman, Alice and Dead or Alive, and now Max Payne looks set to grace the big screen.
Twentieth Century Fox has announced that a film based on the Max Payne series is to be made, but currently there are no details on the film. The Max Payne series is perfect for a crime thriller with some bullet time action mixed in for good measure.
“I think this is a real actor’s part because although the story will have action and intrigue, at its core it’s a story about a man who loses everything in life that’s dear to him,” said co-producer Scott Faye. “Unlike a novel, video games by nature leave gaps in the story, which allows filmmakers an opportunity to flesh out the story and fill those holes in a meaningful way,” he said.
We will bring you information on the film when we get it, but for now we can speculate on who could play the lead.
After a great performance in Sin City, Clive Owen would make a great Max Payne. Maybe Thomas Jane from The Punisher, or as a complete wild card how about Blade Trinity’s Ryan Reynolds if he could resist adding some wise cracking one liners to the role.
