Massive Baldur’s Gate 3 mod makes Larian’s RPG look better than ever 

A new Baldur’s Gate 3 mod has been released to massively increase the detail of the RPG’s textures. With many complaining the game’s highest texture settings are still blurry, this new mod increases detail for every texture in the game. 

Baldur’s Gate 3 texture overhaul 

While hilarious Pokeball mods and awesome map creation is more interesting to some, modder WestArad has created a solution to Baldur’s Gate 3’s blurry texture problem. 

Available to download here, the BG3 Texture Upscale Project weighs in at a sizable 10GB. Using an upscaling program known as chaiNNer, the mod upscales the detail of every texture by four times. This means that any 1080p texture now becomes a 4K texture. 

With some of the game’s highest quality texture options still resulting in assets under 720p, this mod does make areas look a lot more realistic.

“For those who want high resolution textures that adhere to the vanilla vision, or a pack to serve as a foundation for custom-made textures, this will work wonders,” the modder explains. 

At the time of writing, modder WestArad is still improving sections of their Baldur’s Gate 3 mod. Currently on its 1.2 version, the modder is continuing to tweak specific textures and fix crashing errors. 

Doesn’t change everything

While the mod improves a tonne of textures in Baldur’s Gate 3, it doesn’t overhaul every texture. For example, the mod doesn’t improve assets for clothes and armour. 

WestArad explains that the mod doesn’t touch on those assets simply because there is already a great mod that does the same thing. 

“As there is already a great mod to replace armour and clothes, I have skipped them for this release but may pursue them at a later date,” the modder said. That mod can be grabbed here.
