BioWare’s Xbox 360 action RPG Mass Effect hasn’t actually been given a firm release date, but previous estimates put the game down for release in September – a date reflected by several online retailers, including Play.com which lists a September 14 release.
However, the game’s release could be further away than anticipated, with GAME updating its website with a new release date of January 2008.
It’s likely that Mass Effect will be heavily featured by Microsoft at E3 next month, at which time we’ll probably also learn of the game’s planned release date.
With so many AAA titles already scheduled for release in the last third of the year, an early 2008 release could help ensure sales of Mass Effect aren’t damaged by competing titles – in particular Halo 3 and GTA IV.
