Chunks of Mass Effect 3 script unearthed by clever internet detectives have suggested that the upcoming Leviathan DLC will add further content to the trilogy’s contentious finale.

Warning: mega spoilers

Code buried deep within the Extended Cut DLC, and released onto the internet by the BioWare forum on Pastebin, reveals a few snippets of Star Child dialogue that will shed some light on the origins of the Reapers.

During the game’s final moments, the Star Child will remark that the Leviathan race “are the creators. They are the ones who requested the solution.”

If you need a quick reminder: Mass Effect’s villains, the Reapers, are part of a galactic solution engineered to maintain balance and order between organic and synthetic life.

The Reapers harvest organic life, preserving it in the form of new Reapers. The Leviathan DLC will deal with the Leviathan race that created the Reapers in the first place.

“They became the first to be harvested,” the Star Child will say.

“We required their harvesting to create the first Reaper. To enforce and enact on the solution I created.”

Mass Effect 3’s Leviathan DLC will be released this summer for $10 (no European pricing has been announced) or 800 Microsoft Points.
