Despite BioWare stating we might still see more from the Mass Effect universe, Mass Effect 3 will be the end of Commander Shepard’s story.

When asked if Shepard would “definitely” not appear in future titles, Gamble stated: “Correct”.
Currently the studio is seeking the best way to move forward with the franchise, with BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka explaining:
“[BioWare] do have a desire to continue the Mass Effect franchise, and we’re working on the details, figuring out what the fans want, figuring out the right way.”
Mass Effect 3 is set for release on March 6, 2012.
