Mass Effect 3 sold 890,000 copies during its first 24 hours on sale in North America, EA has revealed.

Speaking at the Wedbush Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference in NYC, EA chief executive John Riccitiello revealed the figure, stating he’s feeling “awfully good” about Mass Effect 3 and that EA “anticipated it doing well, so we’re happy.”

It seems gamers are snapping up additional day one DLC too, with 40 per cent of GameStop buyers purchasing a download code for additional content with their copy of Mass Effect 3.

“The tie ratio at the register is the highest in their history,” said Riccitiello.
