The Retake Mass Effect petition, set up by angry Mass Effect fans wanting changes made to the ending of Mass Effect 3, has gained a fair bit of press (good and bad), so in an effort to “bring positive attention to our petition for an alternate ending to the fantastic Mass Effect series” the group set up a donation drive for the Child’s Play charity.
And it’s good news so far. At the time of writing the drive has raised $28,418 and it’s growing every minute.
“We would like to dispel the perception that we are angry or entitled,” reads a message posted by the group. “We simply wish to express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love.”
Mass Effect 3 launched in Europe last week. Read our review here and check out an insider view on how BioWare has changed since selling to EA.
Whatever your thoughts on the group’s petition to change the ending to Mass Effect 3, there’s no doubt that raising a substantial sum of money for charity is an extremely positive thing and should be commended. Even if the ending of the game is never changed, the campaign has already had a great outcome.
