The Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo will be playable by all, even those without an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, BioWare has revealed.

Multiplayer demos would typically require a Gold account in order to play – most demos are available a week earlier for Gold members – but Microsoft is kindly providing limited time Gold access to those who grab the ME3 demo.

Microsoft sent the following confirmation to BioWare: “In celebration of ME3, Xbox is pleased to provide fans access to ME3 demo multiplayer for the time leading to launch. Xbox LIVE Gold gives you exclusive benefits including multiplayer gaming, member-only deals & previews, and access to entertainment with Netflix, ESPN, Hulu Plus and more.”

The demo, which also includes the start of the solo campaign, is exclusive to gamers who activated their Battlefield 3 online pass from February 14. Everyone else must wait until February 17.

Mass Effect 3 launches March 9 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
