Mass Effect 3 has come under yet more scrutiny, this time by the Better Business Bureau, which claims the game may have been falsely advertised.
“Consider this: If you had purchased a game for $59.99… and were told that you had complete control over the game’s outcome by the choices your character made and then actually had no control over the game’s outcome, wouldn’t you be disappointed?” asks Marjorie Stephens, director of communications at BBB of Northern Indiana.
“The issue at stake here is, did BioWare falsely advertise? Technically, yes, they did. In the first bullet point [on the game’s website], where it states ‘the decisions you make completely shape your experience’, there is no indecision in that statement. It is an absolute.”
Some consumers feel entitled to a full refund from BioWare, but it’s not clear if the BBB will pressure EA to bow down to these demands.
BioWare has already promised free prologue DLC to bring more closure for fans disappointed by the game’s ending.
