Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics upcoming superhero adventure Marvel's Avengers is, of course, based on the famous superhero team and from today Marvel themselves are releasing a comic series tie-in that will serve as a prequel story to the events of the game ahead of its launch next year.

The first issue, out today, focuses on Iron Man as he takes on the Lethal Legion, and at least four more are planned focusing on Thor – out on January 8, and The Incredible Hulk on February 5. Then later, in March, two more comics will release focusing on Captain America and Black Widow.

Marvel's Avengers Iron Man #1 is available now digitally from Marvel's own comic store and (presumably) in other places comics are sold. As for the game itself, Marvel's Avengers is set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia on May 15 2020.
