NetEase has announced balance changes coming with the next Marvel Rivals update, including a game-changing nerf. At the moment, one of the most effective ways to win is by teaming up with Bruce Banner and Iron Man. Both of these heroes are amazing on their own, but their team-up ability is nearly unstoppable. However, that will no longer be the case.
The upcoming nerf will drastically shift the meta, and we probably won’t see as many Bruce Banner bans anymore.
The upcoming Marvel Rivals nerf will change the game
As we are approaching Season 1.5, Bruce Banner’s ban rate is 43.65%, the second highest in the game. The Vanguard has a 51.38% win rate across the board, yet it goes all the way to 58.66% with the Iron Man Team Up. The reason is simple: Gamma Overdrive. This ability turns Iron Man into a killing machine while also granting Hulk 150 extra health.
With the upcoming patch, this Team Up will be much less effective. Hulk’s bonus HP will be reduced from 150 to 100, while Iron Man’s Unibeam will deal almost 10% less damage with Gamma Overdrive, from 220 to 200 per second. Dr. Strange, another character who benefits from Team Up with Bruce Banner, will not be affected by the nerf.

The good news is that this is not the end of Iron Man. The Avenger will receive a massive damage buff with the next Marvel Rivals update, making him much more effective in combat. The Unibeam damage was buffed to 140 damage per second, up from 120, while activating Armor Overdrive will increase the damage to 190 per second, up from 180.
The recent Marvel Rivals nerf will enhance Iron Man’s effectiveness as a standalone Duelist, eliminating the need for Bruce Banner’s Team Up. With his current win rate sitting at just 49.17% in Season 1, this change should significantly improve his usability and allow him to be on par with other Duelists.
