Season 3.5 of Marvel Rivals is set to drop this Friday. NetEase will release the massive mid-season update at 9 AM UTC, followed by a server maintenance. Once servers go back up, we will be able to try out all the new content that will have arrived, including Blade, a new Duelist. The good news is that the ranked mode will be more enjoyable as well, mostly due to stricter penalties.
As NetEase previously revealed, the upcoming update will reduce the toxicity in Marvel Rivals. Now, we have all the details about it, including the exact penalties players will face in the ranked mode.
The upcoming Marvel Rivals season will bring stricter penalties
The next season of Marvel Rivals will bring strict penalties for those who break the rules. Players who leave games will face a suspension and a drastic point loss in the ranked mode.
If a player disconnects during the loading screen, ban pick, or hero selection, the match will be invalidated. Otherwise, these are the penalties they will face:
Disconnect Timing | Reconnection | Time Since Disconnect | Disconnected Player | Other Players |
---|---|---|---|---|
Loading/Ban-Pick/Hero Select/≤70s | N/A | N/A | T1 Penalty (repeat scaling) Penalty count increases | Match ends, no result |
>70s | No | ≤90s | Normal settlement, no penalty | Normal settlement |
>70s | No | 90–150s | T1 penalty, competitive ban, penalty count increases // Penalized regardless of win or loss. | Compensation if lost |
>70s | No | >150s | T2 penalty, competitive ban, penalty count increases // Penalized regardless of win or loss. | Compensation if lost |
>70s | Yes | ≤90s | Normal settlement, no penalty | Normal settlement |
>70s | Yes | 90–150s | T1 penalty, penalty count increases (if lost) | Compensation if lost |
>70s | Yes | >150s | T2 penalty, penalty count increases (if lost) | Compensation if lost |
Point loss and bans
The situation will be even worse for those who constantly break the rules in Marvel Rivals. These players will receive longer competitive banks, as well as bigger point losses.
Repeat Offenses | Competitive Ban | T1 Penalty | T2 Penalty |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 15 minutes | 25 | 30 |
2 | 1 hour | 30 | 35 |
3 | 3 hours | 35 | 40 |
4 | 8 hours | 40 | 45 |
5 or more | 20 hours | 40 | 45 |
Furthermore, this change will affect Quick Play, as players will be banned from it between 15 minutes and eight hours. For this game mode, the first offense will always result in a warning.
Finally, to make the game more fair, NetEase will implement point compensation for the teammates of a leaver. In case of a loss, these players will be compensated, which will prevent them from losing too many points. Players at lower ranks will receive bigger compensation, as shown below:
Rank | Points |
---|---|
Bronze | 12 |
Silver | 12 |
Gold | 12 |
Platinum | 8 |
Diamond | 8 |
Grandmaster | 8 |
Celestial | 4 |
Eternity | 4 |
One Above All | 4 |
It’s important to note that the point compensation is capped at -1. This means that if a Gold player receives -9 points at the end of the match, they will not be at +3 after the compensation. Instead, they will suffer a minimal loss of points.
The upcoming season looks great and should make the ranked mode much better. However, there is one downside, as NetEase will prevent players from playing together, but the community hopes that this change will be reverted in the future.
