Marvel Rivals is currently available only on current-gen gaming systems. PC players can play the game on Epic Games Store and Steam, while it’s available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, this may change soon. According to a new leak, Marvel Rivals may come to PlayStation 4, which could drastically change its future.
In Season 3.5, the hero shooter still has millions of daily active users. While the player count has rapidly decreased over the past few months, releasing the game on more platforms would certainly help. Unfortunately, the release date on PS4 hasn’t been leaked or revealed yet.
Will Marvel Rivals come to PlayStation 4?
At the moment, PlayStation 5 is the only Sony console capable of running Marvel Rivals. Considering how demanding this game can get, especially during action-packed sequences, releasing it on current-gen systems makes sense. However, a recent discovery by PlayStation Game Sizes indicates its release on Sony’s previous-gen gaming console.
The X (formerly Twitter) page has a solid track record regarding PlayStation Store entries, updates, and file sizes. Due to this, we believe that Sony and NetEase are preparing Marvel Rivals for a PlayStation 4 release.
In spring 2024, PlayStation 4 had approximately 50 million users. Even if this number decreased by half since then, we’re still looking at a decent market NetEase could tap into. Furthermore, Marvel Rivals is free, so there’s no doubt that many PlayStation 4 players would give it a shot.
If the game comes out on Sony’s last-generation console, we can expect its release on Xbox One at some point as well. Furthermore, NetEase could eventually bring the game to Nintendo Switch and mobile phones in the future.
