In Marvel Rivals, NetEase has constantly changed hero abilities to keep the battlefield interesting and always changing due to player feedback. From Season 0’s double-shield dominance to Season 1’s ranged DPS dominance, the developer’s balance patches have changed how to play by weak heroes like Hela and Hawkeye and buffing others like Storm and Wolverine.
With each update, players have to get used to the new meta and team compositions, which has led to both excitement and discussion. However, another patch is on the horizon, set to drop on March 13, which is set to shake up things again. This time, it glorifies the infamous flying DPS meta even further by making two heroes, Iron Man and Human Torch unstoppable. Here’s how.
Next Marvel Rivals update will make OP flying DPS meta even deadlier
The next Marvel Rivals update will bring plenty of bug fixes and adjustments to the game, including new skins for Loki and Storm to the store. Furthermore, the update also introduces buffs for three characters, Iron Man, Human Torch and Cloak and Dagger, making their abilities hit harder than before.
However, right after when Human Torch was released, his abilities combined with Storm wreaked havoc on the battlefield and gave birth to a triple flying DPS meta, combining Iron Man into the mix. These three heroes continued to dominate lobbies until players realized the perfect method to counter them with long range duelists. But now with the upcoming patch, Iron Man and Human Torch have received buffs where their AoE attack damage count has been increased.
However, players expressed their reaction, which was mostly surprised seeing how two already overpowered heroes are further glorified, where one said, “Iron man AoE buff is actually very welcome. It’s very hard to land direct hits with how slow the projectiles are. Torch was in need of a buff too.”
When it comes to Iron Man, he can now inflict an AoE damage with his repulsor blasts to 50 damage each hit in the first two shots and 60 damage each hit in the final shot, as opposed to values like 35 and 40 earlier. Furthermore, when his Ammo Overdrive is activated, he can dish out 65 AoE damage per hit, making him even deadlier than before.
With Human Torch, the speed of his Fire Cluster projectiles has been increased from 120 m/s to 150 m/s, as well as the projectile count from 12 to 14. Also, his activation wave damage has been increased to 80 and his Flame Tornado damage to a whopping 120 damage per second. This makes him more effective in locking down areas and dealing more AoE damage to enemies.
