Marvel Rivals Season 4 is scheduled to come out in less than two weeks. NetEase recently revealed many new details about the season, including a new hero, Angela, that will come with it. In addition to the new content and gameplay changes, the game developer will improve existing game modes and add a much-needed feature.
At the moment, the ranked mode in Marvel Rivals is far from perfect. Fortunately, the game creator is aware of the issues with the game mode and is working on improving it. Many players have asked NetEase to add placement matches to the game, which is precisely what is coming in the future.
Placement matches are coming to Marvel Rivals
Season 4 will come out on Friday, September 12. It will bring many improvements, including a redefined hero selection wheel, which was also one of the community complaints. While this will be a nice quality-of-life change, many players are interested in improving the ranked mode, and that’s also something that NetEase has worked on.
Zhiyong, lead combat designer for Marvel Rivals, revealed that placement matches are coming in the future. “After we released our matchmaking and ranking video, we saw a lot of discussion in the community, especially about seasonal rank resets and placement matches,” he said in the latest dev vision video. “So here’s an update: we are already working on implementing placement matches.”
With this being a “complex feature with a lot of moving parts,” the combat designer pointed out that the feature won’t come out with the release of Season 4 on September 12. However, the development team is working on releasing it as soon as possible.
Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 will likely arrive mid-to-late October and may bring placement matches. In the meantime, NetEase will keep testing this feature and make sure it works properly before it comes out to public servers.
