With 40 heroes in its impressive lineup, Marvel Rivals offers a variety of heroes. More than half of them are damage dealers, which is somehow odd considering that the most viable six-player team composition requires only two of them.
In addition to this, some heroes are amazing in lower ranks, yet their effectiveness fades away after hitting Platinum or Diamond. One hero is especially guilty of this. New players can dominate Bronze lobbies with them easily, but the moment they rank up, the hero becomes borderline useless. And no, we are not talking about Squirrel Girl!
This Marvel Rivals hero destroys Bronze lobbies with ease
In late May, NetEase released Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals. The season brought lots of new content, including a new hero, Ultron, who was deemed too weak in the beginning. Despite this, the Strategist achieved solid results and had one of the highest win rates in the game. Now, two months later, Ultron is still viable, but there’s a twist.
Ultron currently has the highest win rate in Bronze. However, as ranks increase, his effectiveness fades away. Let’s take a look at his win rate in every rank:
Rank | Win rate | Rank among heroes |
---|---|---|
Bronze | 53.32% | #1 |
Silver | 55.90% | #3 |
Gold | 54.32% | #5 |
Platinum | 52.46% | #11 |
Diamond | 49.88% | #20 |
Grandmaster | 47.67% | #29 |
Celestial | 45.28% | #36 |
Eternity | 56.00% | #13 |
As the table above shows, Ultron becomes nearly useless in higher ranks. While his win rate is great in Eternity, it’s only based on a small sample size, which is 25 games.
Buffing Ultron wouldn’t make much sense, as he’s already powerful in lower ranks. On the other hand, he seems to only be a viable pick in a three-healer composition in higher ranks, which is why NetEase may look into reworking his kit.
With Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 arriving on August 8, we expect balance changes to come out. These changes will certainly shift the meta, and it will be interesting to see how good Ultron will be after the big update.
