Marvel Rivals has engaged millions of fans with dynamic 6v6 fights and a roster of renowned Marvel characters—all accessible for free. However, the game’s cosmetic offers, notably the MCU-inspired skins and bundles, have prompted passionate debate among fans.
Bundles like MCU Spider-Man and Iron Man, which include skins, MVP intros, sprays, and calling cards, have been criticized for being too expensive for a free-to-play title. While the game compensates for this with earnable in-game currency that can be exchanged 1:1 for premium Units, many fans believe that the grind isn’t worth the price, especially when contrasted to the genre’s more consumer-friendly standards. Despite this, NetEase has kept the game accessible, with no heroes or maps behind paywalls, which has been lauded as a standout in the competitive shooter scene.
Now, NetEase has released a new teaser hinting at potential pocketbook relief. In a recent patch notes blog, devs have teased a new bundle which is speculated to be a cheaper method to earn skins.
Marvel Rivals patch notes tease cheaper skin bundles coming soon
According to the new Marvel Rivals patch notes for the March 27 update, a Pick-Up Bundle was listed under the New Content category. As per speculations by prominent leakers like Miller Ross, these may be a method to get Store cosmetics or skins for a much cheaper price than their actual bundle price.
While the bundles are already shown at a discounted rate in the shop, for instance, the latest Iron Man Steam Power Bundle items are worth 2,200 Units, but players can get the full bundle, including three more items, for 1,600 Units. This method may further slash those prices even more.
Popular speculations lead to the NGP Membership that pops up in-game, which offers “exclusive benefits and privileges” that haven’t been revealed in the game yet. According to the NGP page, players are also entitled to participate in the NGP Exclusive event with fun missions and abundant rewards, exclusive items and some privileges that each member will get.
While the membership is free of cost, players are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from NetEase, who usually don’t shy away from giving away free skins like the latest Black Widow Mrs. Barnes costume.
