Marvel Rivals’ Season 2.5 is here, and the player base is once again excited as leaks of summer-themed skins have ignited a frenzy among players. The vibrant swimsuit donned by Squirrel Girl and Rocket’s casual cargo shorts, paired with a plant-themed hat, have sparked excitement among players, hinting at a possible summer event aimed at revitalizing the game’s cosmetic offerings.
The latest leaks suggest a significant update that may coincide with Season 3, as Marvel gears up to revive its beloved 90s comic series, teasing an extravagant tie-in with Marvel Rivals. The buzz among fans is palpable as they eagerly speculate on how these fresh designs will make their way into the game, with a significant number anticipating an influx of swimsuit-themed cosmetics on the horizon. However, now the devs have confirmed that these costumes are indeed coming soon and have offered a first look at a new hero on the way.
Marvel Rivals dev reveals upcoming swimsuit skins and new Black Cat hero
The Marvel Swimsuit Special comic series, a fan favorite from the 1990s, is returning with Marvel Swimsuit Special: Friends, Foes, and Rivals #1, which will be released on July 9, 2025. Marvel Rivals Executive Producer Danny Koo announced a return of the famous beach-themed artwork featuring heroes and villains, as well as a crossover with the popular multiplayer game.
The comic, written by Tim Seeley and Tony Fleecs and illustrated by Nick Bradshaw and other renowned artists, revolves around Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp) staging a global fashion shoot to counter an unauthorized swimsuit magazine published by Roxxon Comics. This super-sized magazine is jam-packed with splash pages featuring magnificent summer-themed costumes, including a surfing Black Panther, some of which will become playable skins in Marvel Rivals, most likely in July or August 2025, coinciding with the game’s Season 3.
The cover, which features Black Cat (Felicia Hardy), has spurred fan speculation that Black Cat may be the next hero presented in Marvel Rivals Season 3. While characters such as Cyclops and Jean Grey have been teased in leaks, nothing has been verified by NetEase, but the cover’s striking depiction of Black Cat heightens interest among fans.
Furthermore, a notable highlight of Koo’s post is the inclusion of a redemption code for the “The Unlimited Thing” skin for Marvel Rivals, which increases the comic’s appeal to fans who missed out on the skin during the Marvel Unlimited promo period.
